Did you know printed photos are FOREVER?
We know prints can last 100’s of years.
This generation is the most photographed generation recorded in our history with the least amount of prints!
I have to say I think our digital age is pretty awesome, but it’s sad that a lot of people won’t have memories to pass down because most everyone has their images stored on some sort of media devise.
As a photographer, it is important to me to educate my clients about the importance of printing and that I offer a level of service to purchase prints. Prints that will be around for generations to come!
Do you remember when an 8″ floppy disc was all the rage? Then they updated to 5 1/2 ” style.
Or how about those square hard disks? We had them color coded and could even write on it so we could remember what we had saved on it.
Then came the round disks! BUT, did you know most computers now days do NOT have a disc reader anymore?
Now we have USB drives and most people think they are achievable. But don’t fool yourself, they can go bad and be corrupted.

As I think about this print turned digital, I’m fascinated by the merging of two technologies from decades apart. Of course, the original negative is long gone and I wouldn’t have the digital if the photo hadn’t been taken at all. But since this priceless photo was printed I now can have a copy to last for many generations.
One format of media that’s consistent – the print. The print hasn’t lost its magic or its form, and because of it, I now have a digital scan of this photo that means so much to me and my family. The print is timeless and can surpass and withstand the changes in technology.
So if you don’t print your images for future generations, the digitals we take today will be long gone 40-50 years from now.
I hope this has shed some light and you can see how the value in why print products are so valuable and truly priceless.
