Fresh 48 Photography

One type of newborn session Kandi offers in the Elko, Nevada area is a hospital or home birth sessions. Sometimes referred to as fresh 48 hospital session. Fresh 48 Photography is a special session for those families who want the first few hours of their newborn’s life documented without having the entire labor or birth captured.

Having a baby is one of the most pivotal points in your life. Those special moments in the hospital are so precious. Your baby will change hour to hour and day to day in that first week. These lifestyle sessions are a perfect way to remember the first few days forever! At the session we can capture those first milestones, breastfeeding, meeting siblings, Dad’s first diaper change, meeting the grandparents, or simply just gazing at your new bundle of joy. I want you to look back at these images and feel the weight of your new baby snuggled on your chest, feel the softness of their sweet fluffy hair, and feel the love for your partner as you watch them sway your baby to sleep for the first time. There will be so many moments you will want to remember.

What to Expect at the Fresh 48 Session

All sessions take place within 48 hours of birth (up to 72 hours after c-section)

Having a baby is exhausting, exhilarating, and often becomes a hazy memory as you navigate motherhood with this new little person. Fresh 48 sessions aim to capture the emotions you feel during this amazing moment in your life, so the sessions are documentary in nature. No props or poses, just you and your brand new baby. Before the session, notify the nursing staff that you will be doing your photo shoot, it will help keep interruptions to a minimum during this time. Don’t worry if baby gets fussy and needs to eat during our session, I will happily capture nursing images, or take this time to document hospital room details.

What to Wear

Keep things simple. I recommend wearing something comfortable! Most moms choose a pretty robe, yoga pants, and a nursing tank top. All neutrals photography beautifully. For dads, a t-shirt and jeans is great. I suggest a neutral, solid color shirt and to avoid busy patterns, bright colors, stripes and words/logos that may distract from your new baby.

For moms, don’t worry about looking like a movie star the day after you give birth. Toss some tinted moisturizer, mascara, and dry shampoo in your hospital bag and you’ll have everything you need

Can my older children be in the photos?

Absolutely! One of my favorite moments to capture is a big brother or sister meeting the new baby for the first time. I suggest we begin the session without older kids in the room to focus on the new baby and then have someone bring them in for the GRAND introduction.

What happens if my baby doesn’t arrive on their due date?

Don’t worry! Babies rarely arrive as scheduled and I am prepared for early or late arrivals.

Due to the on-call nature of these sessions, I only do a limited number of Fresh 48 sessions a month!

Booking early is key to guaranteeing you a spot!!

Want to hear what others are saying about her newborn and maternity photography ?

Kandi Anderson Newborn Photography studio is located in Carlin, NV. Just a short drive from Elko, NV.

“Kandi is amazing! We chose her as our newborn photographer because she has an adorable studio with all the props you can imagine. I was considering going the cheap route at first and having a family friend take the pictures with her professional camera, but the props alone would run hundreds of dollars and it seemed like a waste of money. So, we decided to meet Kandi and visit her studio and then I fell in love with the studio and all the props. After having our newborn shoot, I am so glad we went professional because the images Kandi captured are the result of years of experience working with newborns. Additionally, once we had our session I saw that only someone experienced in handling delicate and fragile newborns should be. Do not hesitate to book her, you will not regret it. I have images of my newborn baby that I treasure and would not have had otherwise.”
