What an honor and privilege it was to photograph this beautiful family’s birth story at Northern Nevada Regional Hospital.

I have never documented such raw beauty and authentic love. I marveled being able to witness such a relaxing, calm and powerful birth process.

This gorgeous mamma was so strong and graceful as she labored.  Her Mom (Nana) was there as a huge support and comforter. Her husband coached her with such love and tenderness and then delivered his own child.  What a unique story in its self. Both mom and dad are OBGYN’S and he was able to deliver his first born. Truly a magical moment.

They didn’t know the sex of their baby, and was overjoyed and surprised to see that they had a baby girl! There is nothing more powerful than watching a family open their hearts to welcome another little human into the world. We were all in awe of the beauty of birth…..and how gently little Akira come into the world.

This selfless couple invited Nana to have the honor of cutting the cord. It was such a special moment and one I bet she will treasure forever.

The images I captured are some of my favorites. There are quiet moments, peaceful moments, intense moments, and joyful moments. It was an honor to tell your scared story. I hope you will cherish them forever!
